Music for Picture, Performance, & Place
FOR SCREEN
EXT. LOS ANGELES – DAY
Short Film · 2021 · dir. Matthew T. Price
A playful chamber score built around character and perspective. Clarinet becomes the protagonist’s musical voice, with bass clarinet and bassoon coloring the people around her, while a buoyant waltz carries much of the film’s dialogue-free storytelling.
Silver Award, Music Score · Virgin Spring Cinefest
CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND
Short Film · 2020 · dir. Sean Patrick Leonard
A gritty, contemporary score shaped around loss, danger, and survival. Raw textures give way to more intimate moments as the music follows the story’s shifting balance between vulnerability and threat.

FOR STAGE
NO EXIT
Speaking Ring Theater Company · 2002
Original Score · Sound Design
An immersive production of Sartre’s No Exit placed the audience inside the room with the characters, surrounded by translucent walls where figures appeared as shadows, faces, and bodies pressing into the space. The score was manipulated and distributed through six speakers surrounding the room, creating a spatial sound environment that extended the action beyond the walls and into the audience.

FOR PLACE
Some stories belong to a particular place. Music for museums, public events, and interpretive performance can shape how audiences encounter that place, turning information, celebration, and performance into a shared experience.
WILD REEF
Shedd Aquarium · 2003
Grand Opening Celebration · Original Music
Original music created for the opening of Shedd Aquarium’s Wild Reef: Sharks at Shedd, including music for the grand opening parade and ceremony. Written and recorded for the live event, the music accompanied a large-scale public celebration introducing audiences to the aquarium’s new permanent exhibition.
YETL AND THE TOTEM
Shedd Aquarium · 2002
Museum Interpretive Theatre
Developed as a live interpretive theatre piece at Shedd Aquarium, Yetl and the Totem used masks and performance to connect visitors with the First Peoples traditions, animals, and ideas of the Pacific Northwest, represented in the design of the Oceanarium. Developed and performed as part of Shedd’s interpretive programming.
FOR FUTURE
ROBIN HOOD
Narrative Ballet · In Development
Conceived while a company dancer with the Grand Rapids Ballet, Robin Hood began as an idea for telling the familiar story through movement and music. The project has remained a creative thread as that early perspective from inside the ballet world expanded into composition, theatre, and narrative storytelling.
COSMERE
Personal Scoring Project · In Development
An ongoing exploration of musical storytelling inspired by the worlds and characters of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere. Character themes, locations, and narrative ideas become the starting points for developing a connected musical language across a large fictional universe.
Created as an independent creative study, unaffiliated with the author or official adaptations.
WEEKDAY MASS
Musical · In Development
The morning after an unexpected proposal leaves a relationship in uncertainty, David finds himself unexpectedly sitting through a weekday Mass, looking back on his life with Anthony and the night before.
Moving between memory and the events of that night, Weekday Mass intertwines a relationship confronting its future with the excitement of another just beginning. The two stories mirror one another through music, memory, love, and the choices that can change a life.
LEGACY
Serialized Audio Musical · In Development
After discovering that his late father’s life held secrets he never knew, Evan is drawn into a journey with Claire that begins to uncover a hidden world of espionage, unfinished business, and unanswered questions.
Designed as a serialized audio musical, Legacy uses songs, dialogue, and cinematic sound to tell a story about what we inherit from the people we love, and what happens when we discover they were not entirely who we thought they were.
ECHOES OF DISPLACEMENT
Practice-Led Composition Research · Developing Project
Echoes of Displacement is an emerging study inspired by my recent work with immigrant, refugee, and newcomer students and families building lives in Chicago, often while carrying the loss and fracture of places and communities left behind. The project looks toward three broad ideas: loss and displacement, the journey, and settling into a new place. Musically, those ideas have potential to open into questions of fracture and rebuilding, memory and change, resolution and sometimes its absence. Drawing on observation and reflection rather than individual accounts, the project asks: What musical stories can grow from these experiences, and what might they reveal about leaving, crossing, arriving, and beginning again?
